Will the BJP be able to stop Patidar Factor in Saurashtra by Koli, Ahir and other OBC votes?
The question of credit for Modi-Shah in Gujarat elections
BJP, worried about Patidar, OBC and Dalit movement in Gujarat, has fielded party president Amit Shah from the prestigious Gandhinagar seat.
BJP's performance in Saurashtra region was weak due to the Patidar movement. Here the BJP's main contest is with the Congress.
Considering the possibility of 'if and so', both the parties have decided the candidates in line with caste equations.
Apart from Patidar in Saurashtra, Koli, Ahir and Rajput voters play a decisive role, while the seat of Kutch is dominated by Muslims.
In the last Lok Sabha election, BJP won 26 of 26 seats in all 26 seats. But Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Shah's 'Home State' are the 'question of prestige' for the party this time.
